Montessori teachers have chosen a truly rewarding and fulfilling career. The child is free to explore subjects in more depth and proceed at his or her own pace. The Montessori teacher is the child’s guide and support as they explore, learn, and develop their inner potential. A Montessori teacher is a generalist, comfortable with knowledge in all subjects, and is ready to serve the child in their development.
Becoming a Montessori teacher offers the opportunity to join a spirited community of educators who truly love what they do. There is a growing demand for Montessori Teachers around the world. More and more people are discovering the value of Montessori education and desire for their children to attend Montessori schools. MIA has Teacher Education Programs all over the world.
The process of becoming a Montessori Teacher includes academic training, hands-on learning of the Montessori materials, and a period of practicum (internship). The training to become an MIA certified Teacher is accomplished through an MIA certified or a MACTE accredited Teacher Education Program. A Practicum is accomplished through an MIA certified Practicum Site or other MIA approved Practicum Site.
Additional information on Teacher training, minimum entry requirements, and registration information, can be obtained through an MIA Teacher Education Program.
MIA is an affiliate of MACTE. MACTE (Montessori Accreditation Council of Teacher Education) is a non-profit organization which is dedicated to setting and maintaining standards for academic degree and certificate programs for Montessori professional educators to assure the public of their quality.
